Victor W. van Beusechem


Victor W. van Beusechem is Professor of Applied Molecular Oncology and Head of the Laboratory Medical Oncology at the VU University Medical Center (VUmc) in Amsterdam; and Chief Scientific Officer of ORCA Therapeutics BV. He directs the RNA Interference Functional Oncogenomics Laboratory, a Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA) core facility for whole-genome siRNA library screening and is theme leader Target Discovery and Preclinical Therapy Development at the CCA. Victor received a PhD degree (cum laude) from the University of Leiden and was Senior Scientist at Introgene (now Crucell), where he initiated research on targeting adenovirus vectors for gene therapy and vaccination, before continuing his research at the VUmc, with a focus on therapeutic target discovery, cancer gene therapy and oncolytic viruses. He is a Member on the Board and President of the Science Committee of The Netherlands Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, Editor of Human Gene Therapy and Member of The Netherlands Medicines Evaluation Board expert group on advanced therapy medicinal products.
